SSP Assures Swift Redressal of Public Grievances

Sopore, Oct 18 (KNS): In a bid to strengthen police-public relations and address grassroots-level issues, the Sopore Police on Sunday organised a 'Thana Diwas' interaction programme at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here, with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neha Jain chairing the session and assuring prompt action on genuine grievances.

The programme saw participation from respectable citizens, traders, and mohalla representatives from Main Town Sopore and Zaingeer, who welcomed the SSP and raised a range of issues concerning public importance, officials said.

According to the issues flagged during the interaction, participants raised concerns over private vehicles being plied for commercial purposes on Sopore roads, frequent traffic jams, and the need for construction of dividers in Main Town Sopore to ensure smooth traffic movement. Unauthorised parking and the regulation of loading and unloading of commercial vehicles were also highlighted, along with issues related to vehicles without documents, rash driving, and road safety.

The participants further raised concerns regarding drug peddling, cybercrime, domestic violence, and other social evils, as well as anti-social activities affecting peace in the area. They also flagged the harassment of female students and the mess created outside schools, besides the sale of cigarettes and junk food within 200 meters of schools and hospitals, the officials said.

Stressing the need for adequate police deployment during festivals and public gatherings, the participants sought prevention of harassment, fair and respectful police conduct, and better cooperation between police and the trade community.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
