Party writes to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, demands time-bound probe and action over alleged police negligence

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has written to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, seeking strict legal action against those responsible for the reported attack on Kashmiri passengers travelling in a Jammu and Kashmir-registered Volvo sleeper bus in Haryana.

In the letter, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi described the incident as deeply disturbing and called for the identification and arrest of the accused, compensation for the injured passengers and the bus owner, and concrete measures to ensure the safety of Kashmiris living, studying, working and travelling in Haryana.

The party has demanded registration of an FIR under relevant provisions of law, preservation of CCTV footage, recording of eyewitness statements and a time-bound investigation into the incident.

It has also called for an examination of the police response and appropriate action if negligence or dereliction of duty is established.

The AIP sought compensation for all four injured passengers, including medical expenses and other admissible losses. It also demanded reimbursement of the bus owner's verified repair costs, with the damage to the vehicle estimated at around ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel7–8 lakh.

The party further urged the Haryana Government to introduce effective safeguards for Kashmiri students, traders, employees, tourists, passengers and transport operators across the state. It called for accessible complaint mechanisms, prompt police intervention in cases of intimidation or violence, and accountability wherever official negligence is established.

“No cowardly mob has the right to decide whether a Kashmiri can travel, study, work or earn a livelihood in another state,” Inam Un Nabi said, adding that those responsible for violence and intimidation must face legal action.

He said the Haryana Government must ensure justice for the victims, compensation for their losses and credible guarantees for their safety.

The AIP said it expected a prompt and time-bound response from the Haryana Government, stressing that the safety, dignity and constitutional rights of Kashmiris must be protected through concrete action.(KNS)
