Mass Retirement Of 14 PHE Field Staff In Uri Raises Concerns Over Rural Water Supply

Uri, October 30 (KNS): The retirement of 14 permanent field employees from PHE Sub-Division Uri on October 30 has raised concerns over the operation and maintenance of water supply schemes in remote villages.

Around 35 field employees have reportedly retired from the subdivision over the past six months, creating a significant manpower shortage.

Given Uri's difficult mountainous terrain and scattered habitations, maintaining water supply schemes requires regular field staff to operate valves, monitor reservoirs, repair pipelines and address technical breakdowns.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Reports suggest that several villages may now be left without a regular permanent field employee, raising concerns about uninterrupted drinking water supply.

Residents and concerned sections are questioning whether the existing workforce can manage the growing responsibilities.

Authorities are urged to address the manpower shortage and formulate a deployment plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply across Uri's remote villages.(KNS)
