Special inspection drive conducted at Jammu Railway Station, trains; action warned against vendors violating norms

Jammu, Oct 28 (KNS): Northern Railway's Jammu Division has seized 43 boxes of unauthorised packaged drinking water during a two-day special inspection drive at Jammu Railway Station and aboard various trains, officials said on Wednesday.

The drive, conducted jointly by the Railways and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), was aimed at preventing the sale of unapproved drinking water brands and ensuring that passengers have access to authorised packaged water.

Officials said the inspections were carried out on October 27 and 28 under the supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal.

During the inspections, railway teams recovered 43 boxes of packaged drinking water belonging to unauthorised and non-standard brands.

The railway administration said only Rail Neer and other railway-approved packaged drinking water brands are permitted to be sold at railway stations and aboard trains.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Officials warned that strict legal and departmental action would be initiated against vendors found selling unauthorised products in violation of railway regulations.

The Jammu Division said surprise inspections and special enforcement drives would continue across the division to curb the illegal sale of unapproved bottled water.

Railway authorities also appealed to passengers to purchase only authorised and properly sealed packaged drinking water to safeguard their health.

Passengers have been advised to report the sale of unauthorised bottled water through the Rail Madad application, railway helpline or staff deployed at stations to enable prompt action.

The division reiterated that ensuring the availability of safe drinking water for passengers remains a priority and that violations of prescribed standards would not be tolerated. (KNS)
