IPS Officer Divya D Awarded Dakshata Padak For Landmark POCSO Investigation In Puducherry

Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNS): IPS officer Divya D, who earlier served as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore and held several key assignments in Jammu and Kashmir, has been conferred the prestigious Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak for excellence in investigation.

Divya D has been recognised for her outstanding investigation into a sensitive case involving offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and child labour during her probationary posting in Puducherry.

According to details, her investigation led to the conviction of 11 accused persons, who were subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. In another significant outcome, the court also awarded compensation amounting to Rs 51 lakh to the child victims, described as a first-of-its-kind compensation award in Puducherry.

The investigation involved a sensitive case concerning the exploitation of children, with the officer adopting a victim-centric approach and focusing on effective evidence collection and meticulous investigation to ensure the accused were brought to justice.

The recognition is particularly significant as the investigation was carried out during her probationary period, reflecting the work undertaken by the officer at an early stage of her policing career.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Before her transfer to Puducherry, Divya D served in several important assignments in Jammu and Kashmir, including SSP Sopore, SP Headquarters Baramulla and SP State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir.

Her tenure in North Kashmir, particularly in Sopore and Baramulla, placed her in key policing responsibilities in the region.
