EOW Kashmir files chargesheet against two for duping job seekers of over Rs 15 lakh

Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNS); The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against two persons for allegedly cheating job seekers of more than Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of providing overseas employment.

The chargesheet in FIR No. 32/2026 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act was filed before the Court of PT&E, Srinagar, against Sajad Abdullah, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, and Jahangir Ahmad Tanky, a resident of Sheshgari Mohalla, Khanyar.

According to the investigation, the accused, proprietors of M/s Al-Aqsa Global Services Pvt. Ltd., operating from Moomin-Abad, Batamaloo, allegedly lured several people with promises of lucrative overseas jobs in reputed foreign companies and collected advance payments exceeding Rs 15 lakh.

However, the promised employment was not provided, while cheques issued by the accused towards refunds were dishonoured due to insufficient funds, the investigation revealed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The EOW found that the consultancy was registered as an excursion agent for tour and travel services and not as a recruiting agent. It was allegedly operating without the mandatory registration required for overseas recruitment.

Investigators also found that both accused had received money in their personal bank accounts from complainants on the pretext of arranging foreign employment but failed to fulfil their commitments.

While the investigation against the accused was concluded as proved, Jahangir Ahmad Tanky could not be traced and has allegedly been absconding since 2025, the EOW said.

The chargesheet has been submitted before the competent court for judicial determination.

The SSP EOW Kashmir has advised job seekers to verify the credentials and registration of recruitment agencies before engaging their services and cautioned against paying advance fees to unauthorised agencies. (KNS)
