Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNS): Around 2.7 lakh students are set to appear in the annual Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations across Kashmir and winter-zone areas of Jammu from October 19, with the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) completing preparations for the exercise.

JKBOSE Secretary Gh Hassan Sheikh on Friday said Class 10 examinations would begin on October 19, followed by Class 12 on October 21 and Class 11 on October 29.

The examinations will be conducted across all 10 districts of Kashmir and winter-zone areas of Jammu, including Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Reasi.

Sheikh said 2602 examination centres had been established in the winter-zone areas, while superintendents, deputy superintendents and other supervisory staff had been appointed.

Confidential examination material has been dispatched to designated police stations as part of security arrangements.

To prevent unfair means and ensure transparency, the board has constituted around 40 vigilance teams to monitor examination centres across districts.

The board has also sought police assistance and requested district magistrates to consider restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), wherever necessary, to prevent outside interference.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Sheikh said question papers had been prepared in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, placing greater emphasis on analytical skills and competency-based assessment rather than rote learning.

He urged students, particularly those appearing in Class 10 examinations for the first time, not to panic.

"Students should not feel stressed or consider these examinations something extraordinary," he said, advising them to approach the papers with confidence.

Sheikh also directed examination staff to maintain discipline while treating students with patience and sensitivity.

The board has established a grievance monitoring cell for students, parents and teachers to report examination-related complaints.

Students have also been advised to carefully enter their roll numbers and question-paper series details on answer scripts to avoid problems during evaluation and result compilation.

Sheikh said the board would maintain strict vigilance against unfair practices while ensuring a fair and student-friendly examination environment. (KNS)
