Bandipora, Oct 16 (KNS): The District Hospital Bandipora administration has directed all consultants posted at the hospital to remain within an eight-kilometre radius of the institution to ensure their availability during medical and surgical emergencies.

In an order issued on Friday, the Medical Superintendent said the directions were necessary as the hospital functions as the district’s First Referral Unit (FRU), providing emergency, critical care, obstetric, surgical and specialist referral services.

The order directs consultants to remain within the prescribed radius even beyond routine duty hours and stay accessible on their registered mobile numbers to respond promptly to emergency calls.

Consultants have also been barred from leaving the prescribed station limits without prior written permission from the competent authority, except on sanctioned leave or authorised official duty.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The administration warned that unauthorised absence, failure to respond to emergency calls without sufficient justification or violation of station instructions could invite administrative or disciplinary action under applicable rules.

The directions have come into immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Director Health Services Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and Chief Medical Officer Bandipora for information and necessary action. (KNS)
