Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): A two-day special voter enrolment drive concluded across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, with election officials conducting door-to-door visits and setting up facilitation services at polling stations to identify eligible voters, process registration applications and address complaints related to electoral rolls.
The exercise, held on October 10 and 11 under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma, was aimed at ensuring that eligible citizens, particularly young and first-time voters, were not left out of the electoral rolls.
Polling stations across the Union Territory remained open for enrolment-related services from 9 am to 5 pm on both days.
According to the Election Department, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) assisted citizens in submitting applications for new registrations, deletion of entries and corrections or updates to electoral particulars through Forms 6, 7 and 8.
Officials also provided guidance on using the Voter Helpline App to access electoral services online.
Besides facilitating applications at polling stations, election functionaries conducted door-to-door outreach to identify eligible voters who had not registered and encourage them to complete the necessary formalities.

The department said complaints and queries received during the drive were referred to the officials concerned for appropriate action. Contact details of election functionaries were also shared with citizens seeking assistance.
However, the department did not disclose the number of new registration applications, corrections or other requests received during the two-day exercise.
Officials clarified that voter registration would continue beyond the special drive, with eligible citizens permitted to apply to their respective Electoral Registration Officers under the continuous updation process.
Salam Din, Deputy Director Information and Nodal Officer for Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), said awareness and accessibility were important for ensuring wider participation in the electoral process.
Interacting with the media during the drive, he also highlighted the role of public awareness campaigns in informing citizens about registration procedures and available services.
The Election Department said its officials would remain available to address enrolment-related grievances and provide assistance to citizens.
It also indicated that similar voter facilitation camps would be organised regularly to improve access to electoral services and maintain accurate electoral rolls across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
