Srinagar, 11 Oct (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq attended the CME “Allergy Alert: Alleviating Allergies — The Safe School Revolution: From Awareness to Action” as Chief Guest, held on the eve of National Allergy Day.
Emphasising the need to make allergy awareness and emergency preparedness an integral part of the school health system, Sadiq said that every school must be equipped to recognise and respond promptly to severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening medical emergency.
He announced that he would pursue legislation to make the availability of adrenaline (epinephrine) emergency medication mandatory in schools, supported by appropriate medical protocols, staff training and clear emergency response procedures.
As an immediate step, Sadiq pledged to release funds from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for government schools in Zadibal to procure the necessary emergency allergy medication and related equipment, in consultation with health authorities and in accordance with medical and storage guidelines.
Describing the initiative as a pilot project, he said its implementation and effectiveness would be reviewed in consultation with medical experts. If successful, he would urge and request fellow MLAs to adopt similar measures in their respective constituencies to help safeguard children across Jammu and Kashmir.
“Prevention is better than cure. No child should lose their life because an allergic reaction was not recognised in time or a life-saving medicine was unavailable. Our schools must be prepared to protect every child. Awareness must translate into action, and this initiative is a step towards ensuring that our children learn in safer environments,” Sadiq said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He emphasised the importance of nurturing young minds, encouraging critical thinking and strengthening democratic values and constitutional awareness among students. He appreciated Kashmir Law College and the organisers for providing students with a platform to develop their debating skills, articulate ideas and engage constructively with diverse perspectives.
