J&K Police to organise cricket tournaments across districts to engage youth: SSP Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police will organise cricket tournaments across all districts during October as part of its civic action programme to engage youth in constructive activities and keep them away from drugs and other harmful influences, SSP Srinagar Dr G V Sandeep Chakravarty said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Chakravarty said the police were organising sports and other activities, including volleyball, indoor games and debates, to provide young people with opportunities for positive engagement.

“The main aim of this project is to keep our youth, who are the future of our country and the strength of our society, busy in constructive activities and to keep them away from negative energies like social media and drugs,” he said.

The SSP said young people should spend more time in libraries and playgrounds rather than engage in activities that could adversely affect them.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“My personal feeling is that youth should be busy in libraries and playgrounds rather than in negative energies,” he said.

He said J&K Police was conducting civic action programmes in every district and would organise more such events to strengthen its engagement with young people.

Chakravarty urged the media to publicise the initiatives so that information about the programmes reached youth across Jammu and Kashmir.

He said police would continue to support activities aimed at preventing drug abuse and strengthening society, while congratulating young people participating in the events.

The SSP said the police would organise more such programmes in the future and called for wider participation from youth. (KNS)
