New Delhi, May 8 (KNS) National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief him on the security situation along the western border and the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.
The high-level meeting, held at the PM’s residence, lasted nearly an hour. Following Doval’s briefing, the Union Home Secretary also met the Prime Minister.
This comes amid heightened tensions after heavy shelling by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, which left 13 civilians dead and 59 injured. According to official sources, all casualties resulted from ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
In response, India has stepped up security measures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelBorders in Rajasthan and other western states have been sealed, schools and colleges have been closed, and government employees' leave has been cancelled. Airspace over several western cities has been restricted until May 10.
India's defence posture has been fully activated. A multi-layered air defence system is operational, frontline warships are deployed in the Arabian Sea, and infantry units are on high alert along the frontier.
An all-party meeting has been convened to update political leaders on Operation Sindoor, a coordinated tri-service strike targeting nine key terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).(KNS)
