Mock Drill Scheduled in Jammu & Kashmir on May 7 to Boost Emergency Preparedness

Jammu, May 6 (KNS): The Government of Jammu & Kashmir will conduct a large-scale mock drill on May 7, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM, to enhance preparedness for emergency situations such as air raids, missile threats, and cross-border conflicts. The exercise is being organized by the Department of Information & Public Relations and is aimed at training both civilians and authorities for critical situations.

A mock drill is a simulated emergency designed to test response systems and improve readiness. This initiative plays a vital role in preparing communities for real-life emergencies by helping officials test their rescue and response plans. It also strengthens community resilience, especially in high-risk zones.

To alert the public, notifications will be issued through mobile SMS alerts, public announcements, and community sirens. Authorities have urged citizens not to panic upon hearing sirens, as they are part of the drill. People are advised to listen to instructions through loudspeakers or radio broadcasts and take cover in the nearest shelter or protected space.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThose capable should assist others, particularly children, the elderly, and individuals needing support.

Residents are encouraged to follow safety protocols during the drill. These include obeying officials’ guidance, avoiding panic, staying informed via local media, and practicing safety by moving to secure locations or bunkers. Remaining calm and cooperative during such exercises can significantly improve overall effectiveness and response time during real emergencies.

The government reminds everyone that “mock drills save lives when real threats come.” Citizens are urged to stay alert, stay safe, and stay united. In case of any emergency during the drill, people can contact the helpline number 112 for immediate assistance.

This mock drill is part of a broader strategy to ensure public safety and readiness, and the administration expects full participation and cooperation from all residents. (KNS)
