Srinagar October 26:(KNS) Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS) convened a meeting of all the Stakeholders which includes Officers of the line Departments, CA Stores Owners Association, Fruit Growers today on Monday in his office chambers in order to finalize the modalities regarding preparations for launch of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), which is being launched by the Sh. ManojSinha, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Union Territory, J&K on 28th of Oct 2020

Director Horticulture informed that the procurement of the Apple fruit will be made in five notified madiesat Jablipora-Anantnag, Parimpora-Srinagar, Shopian, Kulgam, &Sopore. However on the demand from growers and its formal recommendations from Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, the venue of procurement Centre Fruit MandiSopore has been shifted toKanisporaBaramulla.
In connection with the procurement process, the orchardists in the catchment area of the procurement centers will register online for procurement of apple through Central Procurement Agency, NAFED on the official Horticulture website i.e., http://hortikashmir.gov.in. The registration link has been established and the orchardists can get access from the homepage of the official website from mid night of 26th October 2020. The orchardist can also register by visiting Designated Notified Mandies for their registration.
Director Horticulture issued instructed for all Chief Horticulture Officers and Designated Market Inspectors to provide necessary assistance to fruit growers for their registration.

Director Horticulture also informed that launching of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) by the Government will provide an effective marketing platform to apple growers and it will ensure remunerative prices of apples resulting in avoiding of any kind of distress sales thereof. (KNS)
