Baramulla, Sep 9 (KNS) Stepping up its traffic enforcement drive in the scenic tourist hub of Gulmarg, police have seized, challaned 22 vehicles during the first week of September for various violations, officials said on Wednesday.
The drive, conducted by Police Station Gulmarg from September 1 to September 7, was aimed at curbing traffic indiscipline and ensuring the safety of commuters, tourists, and other road users in the area, which witnesses heavy vehicular movement throughout the year, a police spokesperson said.
All 22 vehicles were penalised under relevant legal provisions, the spokesperson said, adding that the authorities have released the list of registration numbers to create public awareness and deter potential violators.
The vehicles challaned or seized include: JK05-6324, JK05N-8376, JK05Q-7639, JK05P-0996, JK05Q-8515, JK05E-2597, JK05L-8435, JK05Q-9044, JK05Q-3634, JK02M-8134, JK05P-7032, JK05L-8050, JK05Q-0739, JK05B-9796, JK05F-4046, JK05N-2133, JK05-3181, JK22A-1867, JK01Q-6294, JK05N-5087, UP12-6128 and JK02BN-2116.

The police have reiterated that strict action would continue against traffic rule violators without any leniency. Motorists have been urged to carry valid vehicle documents, avoid rash and negligent driving, and use seat belts and helmets as applicable.
"Traffic rules are a shared responsibility. Citizens are advised to cooperate with police personnel deployed for traffic management and contribute towards making roads safer for everyone," the spokesperson added.
