Srinagar, Sep 8 (KNS) : Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq has voiced concern over the recent public statement made by the chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), while appealing to New Delhi to revisit its policy of banning social and political organisations.
In a post on social media platform X, the Kashmir's renowned cleric Mirwaiz said the remarks by the JEI chief are a matter of concern . He said it would be in the interest of peace and stability that the Union government lend a patient ear to the people's pleas and chart a course correction on the policy of proscribing organisations in the Union Territory.
“It is expected that where these forced measures are challenged in the court of law, at least due process is allowed to run its course fairly, without taking actions that render legal remedies meaningless,” the Mirwaiz said.

A sustainable political process cannot be built by excluding genuine voices or replacing them with convenient alternatives, the chief cleric said, adding that those who command real social and political presence must be allowed space and engaged through meaningful dialogue.
"Respect for the rule of law, fairness, and meaningful political engagement remain essential for any way forward to real peace," Mirwaiz said. (KNS)
