Bandipora, Oct 22 (KNS): In a proactive initiative to combat the growing threat of drug abuse among youth, the Bandipora Police on Wednesday organised a parent-student interaction session at the International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Bandipora.

The programme, held under the theme “Identifying Early Warning Signs and Behavioural Changes in Children: Recognising Possible Narcotic Usage,” sought to equip parents, teachers, and caregivers with tools to detect early signs of substance abuse and intervene effectively.

Addressing the gathering, DySP Headquarters Bandipora Latief Khan (JKPS) delivered an impassioned address, urging parents to strengthen communication with their children and remain alert to behavioural changes. He underlined the importance of community involvement in countering the drug menace and appealed to parents to report any suspicious activity linked to drug trafficking or consumption.

In a remarkable gesture of commitment, the officer shared his personal contact number with the audience, assuring that his doors remain open to citizens round the clock. “Together, we can rescue our children from this dangerous spiral and secure their future,” he said, emphasising that the fight against drugs demands collective vigilance and sustained effort.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

SHO Bandipora Akhter Hussain also spoke on the occasion, terming drug abuse a grave social challenge that threatens the moral and physical fabric of society. He urged both parents and teachers to play a proactive role in identifying early signs of addiction and extending timely support to affected youth.

Chairman IDPS delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the Bandipora Police for their initiative and commitment to youth welfare. He appealed to parents to cooperate closely with law enforcement agencies and to reach out immediately if they notice any behavioural changes in their children.

The interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents and teachers, who hailed the initiative as a much-needed platform for dialogue on a pressing social concern. They lauded the Bandipora Police—particularly the office of the DySP Headquarters—for its consistent community outreach and uncompromising stance against drug networks operating in the district.

Mohd Ramzan Bhat, a local resident, said the situation regarding drug abuse in the district had significantly improved since DySP Headquarters Latief Khan took charge in Bandipora. “We have witnessed visible control over the social menace of drugs under his leadership,” he added.(KNS)
