Vice chancellor calls for research, practice integration

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): The 16th Indian Dental Association (IDA) J&K Dental Conference concluded at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, bringing together dental professionals, experts, and academicians from across the country. The two-day event served as a platform for academic exchange, clinical training, and professional dialogue.

The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sakeena Masood Itoo, who addressed the key concerns of the dental community. She acknowledged the rising unemployment among dental graduates in Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the professional challenges faced by in-service dentists. Her participation reflected the government's awareness of these issues.

Professor Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, attended as Chief Patron and Guest of Honor. She stressed the importance of annual conferences in advancing the profession.

The conference featured several prominent speakers and dignitaries. Among them were Prof. Parveen Lone, Principal of IGGDC Jammu; Prof. A.S. Oberoi; Dr. Mond Shakeel, Head of the Department of Dentistry at SKIMS Medical College; and the Medical Superintendent of the Government Dental College. Office bearers of IDA J&K played a key role in organizing and coordinating the event.

Participants attended lectures and workshops on topics such as advanced endodontics, digital dentistry, and developments in periodontics. These sessions focused on enhancing clinical skills and introducing emerging technologies in patient care.

Organizers described the conference as a productive engagement that highlighted the need for employment opportunities, policy support, and continued academic collaboration within the dental sector. The event reaffirmed the importance of such platforms in strengthening professional standards and promoting innovation in dentistry.(KNS)
