Vehicle with ‘illicit timber’ seized in Kupwara, driver held

 Kupwara April 28:(KNS)  A vehicle loaded with "illicit timber" was seized Thursday night by a joint team of Forest Protection Force Kandi and SOG in Triach village of North Kashmir's Kupwara district. 

 
A senior forest officer told to Kashmir News Service (KNS), that acting on a tip off about the movement of a vehicle with illicit timber in Kandi Range Kupwara, a special team of officials under the command of DD FPF and Range officer Kupwara operation got carried out to trace the vehicle.
 
"The vehicle was intercepted in Triach Village and the driver was asked to stop but he did not cooperate with the officials, tried to flee from the spot. 
 
 
 
After hectic efforts, the officials managed to seize the vehicle and also detained driver.
 
 
 
The official said, the other offenders have been identified and will be taken to task soon. 
 
 
The timber seized is 7 logs of deodar about 80 cft and was to be smuggled to Srinagar in Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number (JKO6B 0752), he said. 
 
Meanwhile, a  police complaint to be lodged in concerned police station for further investigation, he added. (KNS)
