CJP Leaders Detained Inside Air India Flight in Delhi, Woman Passenger Shouts ‘Shame on You’

Police intercept Abhijeet Dipke, two others after Mumbai-Delhi flight lands; Jantar Mantar protest against CEC, SIR denied permission

New Delhi, Oct 10 (KNS): High drama unfolded aboard an Air India flight at Delhi airport on Saturday after police personnel entered the aircraft and detained three Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders, including party founder Abhijeet Dipke, ahead of their planned protest at Jantar Mantar against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The incident, captured on video and circulated on social media, also witnessed a confrontation between the CJP leaders and a woman passenger who shouted "Shame on you" as police personnel approached the trio.

The leaders, identified as Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, had arrived from Mumbai on an Air India flight that landed in Delhi at around 10.19 am.

According to reports, three women police officers, led by Inspector Pravesh Kaushik of Delhi Police's South West district, entered the aircraft shortly after landing and informed the leaders that permission for their proposed protest at Jantar Mantar had been denied.

The officers asked the three leaders to cooperate and accompany them, triggering an exchange that was recorded by Dipke and shared on social media.

Dipke, who was seated beside the window with fellow party leader Saurav Das occupying the middle seat, began livestreaming the police intervention.

"You can see, the Delhi Police are here. We have just landed, and they are entering the flight," Dipke said in the video.

As police personnel approached, Dipke told them that he had travelled to Delhi prepared to face arrest.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"Main arrest hone hi aaya hoon (I have come here to be arrested)," he said, maintaining that he was not afraid of police action.

The CJP founder also questioned the decision to approach the leaders inside the aircraft, claiming that the intervention was inconveniencing other passengers.

In another video, police personnel could be heard telling the leaders that they were not being arrested and urging them to cooperate.

The confrontation took another turn when a woman passenger challenged the CJP leaders and shouted "Shame on you", with footage of the exchange subsequently circulating on social media.

The three leaders were later reportedly taken to an undisclosed location.

Reacting to the incident, the CJP strongly condemned the police action, describing it as "authoritarian" and alleging that its leaders' freedom of movement had been violated.

The party termed the incident a "pre-planned interception", claiming that police had deliberately prevented its leaders from reaching Jantar Mantar to participate in the demonstration.

The proposed protest was directed against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Special Intensive Revision exercise, which has become a subject of political controversy.

While the CJP described the police action as detention, officers heard in the videos maintained that they were not arresting the leaders.

The precise legal status of the three leaders and their whereabouts following the police intervention could not be independently confirmed. (KNS)
