Srinagar, Dec 23 (KNS): Upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley received light snowfall while plains witnesses light rainfall even as the meteorological department predicted greater intensity of snow spell during December 26 and 27.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that snowfall occurred in upper reaches of the Valley while several parts in the plains received light to moderate rainfall. 

He said that due to fresh spell of snowfall at Razdan Pass in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Bandipora-Gurez road has been closed for vehicular movement, while Mughal Road has also been closed. 

Meanwhile, an official of MET department said that as expected, light snow and rain occured at scattered places in Kashmir and Sonmarg-Zojila axis. 

He said that present weather condition is likely to continue till next 24 hours. 

The official said that another snow spell of greater intensity is most likely to occur during December 26 and 27. 

“There will be most likely widespread of light to moderate snow in plains of Kashmir, rain in Jammu and moderate snow at scattered places of Ladakh especially Kargil Zanskar region,” he said.

He said that light snow is also possible at some places in Leh, mainly over higher reaches with 75 percent chances of occurrence. (KNS)
