Srinagar, Jun 21 (KNS): Two local militants were killed in north Kashmir’s Sopore area Wednesday during a gunfight between forces and militants, police sources said.
The slain militants have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad of Brathkalan, Sopore, and Basit of Pattan, Andergam, of Baramulla district.
Police sources said that two AK 47 rifles, 2 hand grenade, 6 magazines and a pouch was recovered from the encounter site.
Earlier an operation against the two militants, hiding in house, was launched in Pazalpora area on Wednesday
The area was cordoned off last evening and the operation was suspended for the night, police sources said adding today morning a contact with the trapped militants was established which was followed by gunfight.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said a joint team of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and CRPF are busy in an operation in Pazalpora area of Sopore.
DIG North Kashmir, Nitesh Kumar, said two militants were killed at Sopore by security forces. “Both belonged to HM and were identified as Basit Mir r/o Andergam, Pattan and Gulzar Lone r/o Brath, Sopore.” (KNS)
