Two LeT OGWs held along with grenade in Sopore: Police

Sopore, Nov 16 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested the two over-ground workers of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit along with a hand grenade in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF arrested two militant associates along with a hand grenade upon establishing a naka at Shalimar colony crossing.

He identified them as Asif Rasheed War son of Abdul Rasheed War and Altaf Hussain Najar son of Abdul Ahad Najar—both residents of Natnoosa Kupwara.

“On preliminary enquiry, they disclosed their intention to lob the grenade at an undisclosed location in Kupwara with an intention to cause casualties,” said a police spokesperson.

He said that a case FIR No. 275/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered against them in Police Station Sopore and further investigations are on. (KNS)
