Srinagar, Mar 18 (KNS): The two militants who were killed in Rajwar area in northern Kupwara district were associated with Lashkar-i-Toiba nad have been buried by locals in the area, police said.
The two militants who were killed in the encounter belonged to LeT militant outfit, SP Handwara Ghulam Geelani told KNS.
The police official said that they had information about a group of three militants, out of which two have been killed, and the operation is continuing to kill the third militant.
The gunfight erupted between militants and forces in Beigh Mohalla, Waddar in Rajwar area of Handwara tehsil in the wee hours of Friday morning.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe area is close to the LoC.
The identity of the two militants is yet to be ascertained, the SP said. However, police believes them to be from Pakistan. A major search and cordon operation is on in the area.
The bodies of the two slain militants were handed over to the locals for burial, and they buried them in Wadder balla in the area, police said. (KNS)
