Jammu, Oct 16 (KNS): The Trade Union Coordination Centre (TUCC), Jammu & Kashmir, has strongly condemned the alleged use of abusive and derogatory language by an IAS officer towards a subordinate KAS officer during an official meeting, and demanded a fair and objective inquiry into the matter.
In a statement issued here, the union said every government employee, irrespective of rank or designation, deserves dignity, respect and professional courtesy, asserting that administrative authority must be exercised with responsibility and restraint rather than through language that humiliates a colleague or vitiates the workplace.
TUCC maintained that discipline in public administration must be reciprocal and that respect for employees is an essential component of good governance, adding that seniority and official position cannot justify inappropriate conduct towards subordinate officers.
"If the reported incident is established upon an impartial inquiry, appropriate action should be taken in accordance with the applicable service conduct rules.

The union called upon the competent authorities to examine the matter fairly and objectively, uphold the dignity of public servants, and ensure that official workplaces remain free from verbal abuse, intimidation and humiliation.
Emphasising that dignity of labour, mutual respect and accountability must guide every level of administration, TUCC said it stands for the protection of employees' legitimate rights and a professional, respectful and accountable working environment.
"An officer's authority is reflected not merely in the position held, but also in the dignity and fairness with which that authority is exercised," the statement added. (KNS)
