Bandipora, Nov 6 (KNS): Three families were rendered homeless after a massive fire gutted residential houses in Quilmuqam village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday, destroying household belongings and wedding preparations made for a daughter whose marriage is scheduled to take place soon.
The blaze caused extensive damage to residential property and household goods, leaving the affected families without shelter.
The tragedy was particularly devastating for one family that had been preparing for its daughter's wedding. Clothes, gold ornaments, household articles and other items purchased for the occasion were reportedly destroyed in the fire.
The incident turned the family's wedding preparations into a major financial and emotional setback, with much of what had been arranged for the ceremony reduced to ashes.

Soon after the fire broke out, local residents, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel and Army soldiers rushed to the spot and joined efforts to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjoining structures.
The affected families have been left without essential household belongings and are facing an immediate need for shelter and assistance.
Local residents appealed to the district administration to conduct an assessment of the damage and provide financial assistance, temporary accommodation and rehabilitation support to the affected households.
They also sought special assistance for the family whose daughter's wedding preparations were destroyed, saying the losses had placed an additional burden on the household ahead of the marriage.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, while the exact extent of the damage was yet to be assessed. (KNS)
