Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): The proposed alignment of Srinagar Ring Road Phase-III, connecting Lasjan with Pandach, may undergo changes to avoid encroachment on a major water body, while an alternative route is also being examined for the Parimpora–Dalgate flyover.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday reviewed the proposed realignments of both road projects and directed the concerned departments to examine alternatives before finalising the routes.
During the meeting, Garg directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to prepare a detailed assessment of structures and public utilities falling within the proposed alignments of the Lasjan–Pandach road.
The assessment will also cover religious structures, likely obstacles and the financial implications of the proposed alignments.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed officials to explore modifications to the Ring Road alignment to ensure that the project does not encroach upon the city's major water body.
Reviewing the Parimpora–Dalgate flyover proposal, Garg directed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department to examine an alternative alignment passing through Qamarwari, Nalamar and Karanagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He stressed that the proposed route should maintain connectivity to important facilities, particularly SMHS Hospital, while minimising traffic disruptions during construction.
The directions indicate that both projects remain under alignment review, with officials tasked to assess their impact on existing infrastructure, public facilities and traffic movement.
Garg asked the concerned departments to coordinate their assessments and consider public convenience while examining the proposed routes.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar; SSP Traffic; Vice Chairman, Lakes Conservation and Management Authority; Project Director, NHAI; and officers from the R&B Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Srinagar Development Authority and other departments.
No final decision on the revised alignments was announced during the meeting. (KNS)
