SKUAST-K Scientists, Teachers Association held its meeting on 28th July, 2015 at Shalimar Campus, under the chairmanship of President Dr S.A.Dar which was attended by the executive members and councillors of the association.
In a statement to KNS a spokesman of the Association said members deliberated on the press note published on 23/07/2015 in KNS by the General Secretary of the Association which has tarnished the image of scientific forum.
“The said meeting to which the press note is associated/linked was presided by the Vice President of SSTA Prof Neelofar who vehemently denied and refuted the claim of the General Secretary regarding the no confidence motion against the President and dissolution of SSTA as no such issue was discussed and no such resolution was passed. Further the said meeting was attended by only few members of SSTA among which some wished to resign from the association but did not tender their resignations to the office bearers of the Association,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“In the present meeting attitude of General Secretary of SSTA was strongly condemned as it was arbitrary and against the norms and regulations of SSTA as General Secretary has no power to dissolve the association as per the constitution and by-laws of SSTA. The power of dissolution vested with General Body only. As such the press note given by the General Secretary on 24/07/2015 stands null and void,” the spokesman said.
“In order to overcome the present scenario of uncertainty created by General Secretary’s negative attitude, General body meet of SSTA will be held very soon and in the mean time the powers of General Secretary are ceased henceforth. Accordingly press and media are informed not to entertain any press release from General Secretary,” he added.
