Sheikh Imran Warns Restricting Grief Is Restricting Justice

Srinagar, May 21(KNS) : The Jammu & Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) on Thursday strongly condemned the house arrest of its Secretary Organisation, Sheikh Mohammed Imran, ahead of the Fatiha-Khwani at Martyrs’ Graveyard Eidgah and subsequent commemorative functions at Church Lane and J65 Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on the death anniversary of Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone Sahib.

In a statement issued to KNS, the party said Sheikh Mohammed Imran was placed under house arrest late last evening, with police personnel deployed at both gates of his residence and instructed not to allow him to move out.

The party further alleged that authorities had restricted access to Mazare Shuhada Eidgah since yesterday, preventing several JKPC members and office bearers from offering prayers and paying tributes to Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone Sahib, Shaheed Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq, and other martyrs.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In a statement, JKPC termed the action “unnecessary and undemocratic,” stating that placing party leaders under restrictions on such an important occasion reflects an unfortunate attempt to curb peaceful political activities and remembrance programmes.

The party said that the legacy and contribution of Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone Sahib continue to inspire thousands across Jammu and Kashmir, and any attempt to prevent people from paying homage hurts public sentiments and weakens democratic values.

JKPC leaders urged the administration to immediately lift all restrictions and allow peaceful observance of the martyrdom anniversary with dignity and respect. (KNS)
