Remembers Lt Khawaja Sanaullah Bhat, pays tributes

Srinagar, Nov 23: The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday termed it “good omen for Kashmir’s freedom movement” the passing of a Pakistan sponsored resolution of self-determination by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) panel.
A committee of the UNGA on Monday unanimously passed a Pakistan sponsored resolution reaffirming that the universal realisation of the right of people’s self determination was a fundamental condition for the effective guarantee and observance of human rights.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah while hailing the efforts of Pakistan expressed hope that the resolution is supported during the United Nations General Assembly’s endorsement next month.
Expressing gratitude to the 72 countries who co-sponsored the resolution, Shah thanked the 193-member assembly’s Third Committee dealing with social, humanitarian, and cultural issues for “support” saying Kashmir is the longstanding dispute of the world the lingering of which endangers peace and tranquility in the South Asia given it is the bone of contention between two nuclear neighbouring nations.
The DFP chairman urged the UN and its member countries to realise that more than 5 lakh human lives have been sacrificed and properties worth trillions destroyed just for the resolution to this dispute.
Shah observed, “We’re a peace-loving nation and are struggling for our birth right of self-determination through peaceful means but India and its local collaborators are using every brute method to crush our genuine and just voice. In the ongoing uprising, the so-called champions of ‘vision’ snatched vision of hundreds of our children and put to death more than hundred people mostly youths.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Seeking attention of the United Nations and the world leadership towards the “grave” situation in Kashmir, the pro-freedom leader said if India is not held accountable for its “crimes against humanity” in Jammu Kashmir, the reactionary politics will continue to dominate the international relations while the establishment of world peace would remain a distant dream.
“It was India that took the (Kashmir) dispute to the United Nations and now is creating hurdles in the establishment of peace in South Asia by rejecting the more than 18 resolutions which stand passed in the Security Council of the world body,” he said.
Shabir Ahmad Shah hailed Pakistan’s efforts towards the resolution of Kashmir saying the Islamic Republic utilises every possible means to find a peaceful resolution of the dispute. “We thank the country for its unrelenting political, moral, and diplomatic support and urge the world community to respond positively to Pakistan’s efforts in this regard,” he said.
Meanwhile, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to the former editor and publisher of the renowned daily late Khawaja Sanaullah Bhat on his anniversary.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said late Sanaullah Bhat left a deep impression on the social, political, and literary spheres of Jammu Kashmir. “He will always be remembered for his literary contribution,” he said.
Remembering the late editor for his unique wirting style, Shah said Khawaja Sanaullah Sahib’s regular column ‘Khazir Sochta Hai Wular Ke Kinaare’ is a valuable asset for the literary world and literature lovers. (KNS)
