Pattan, Jun 03 (KNS): Doctors at Sub District Hospital Pattan conducted a very rare surgery on Amyand’s Hernia which according to doctors is a rare entity and hernia surgeon usually encounters this as an unexpected intra-operative finding.
A team of doctors comprising of Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani Surgeon specialist, Dr Zahoor Consultant Anaesthetist and assisted by theatre technician Younis and Mudasir conducted the surgery of a young male namely Nisar Ahmad, son of Ab Hamld, resident of Singpora Pattan under MRD No:-52 who was planned for routine inguinal hernia surgery and had un-expected intra-operative diagnosis of right Amyand's hernia.
Officials said that he is doing well in follow up. “Amyand hernia is a rare entity in which the vermiform appendix is located within the inguinal hernial sac.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIt was first described by Claudius Amyand (1685-1740) and seen in less than 1% of inguinal hernia,” officials said.
Amyand's henna is usually confused with an obstructed or strangulated inguinal hernia, torsion of the testis or with epididymo orchitis.
BMO Pattan, Dr Manzoor Ahmad hailed the endeavour of his team of doctors. “They deserve credit and appreciation,” Ahmad said.
Meanwhile, locals also hailed the efforts of the BMO and his team for the successful surgery.
Last year Dr Imtiyaz Wani also received the KNS infotel award from PHE Minister. (KNS)
