Separate power feeders commissioned for Neel, Ukhral; MLA announces ₹50 lakh circular road project connecting Mangit and Mahoo

Banihal, Oct 30 (KNS): MLA Banihal–Gool Sajjad Shaheen on Friday laid the foundation stone of the Mangit–Jamando road, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local population and paving the way for improved connectivity to the tourist destination of Jamando.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaheen said the road would not only ease transportation difficulties faced by residents but also unlock tourism potential and create new economic opportunities for the area.

He said plans were also underway to develop a park at Jamando to promote the destination and attract visitors.

The MLA announced that an internal circular road connecting Mangit and Mahoo had been proposed at an estimated cost of ?50 lakh, with work expected to commence shortly.

He added that projects aimed at improving connectivity to Mangit and the Bajnari road were also expected to begin soon, while several other road projects connecting remote habitations and potential tourist destinations had either been taken up or proposed.

Highlighting improvements in the power sector, Shaheen said separate 11 kV feeders for Neel and Ukhral had been commissioned on Thursday at the 33/11 kV Receiving Station, Ramsoo.

He said the segregation of feeders fulfilled another long-standing public demand and was expected to improve electricity distribution, reduce frequent interruptions and ensure a more reliable power supply in Neel, Ukhral, Ramsoo and adjoining areas.

Shaheen said several development initiatives had been undertaken across Banihal–Gool during the past two years to address infrastructure deficiencies and improve essential public services.

He said efforts were underway to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, upgrade school buildings and educational facilities, improve major road networks, extend connectivity to unconnected habitations and construct bridges in areas facing transportation difficulties.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The MLA said special attention was also being given to sports infrastructure and tourism development through eco-parks, recreational parks and other tourism-related facilities.

He said work on several such projects had already commenced, while additional proposals were in different stages of planning.

Describing Mangit and Mahoo as priority areas, Shaheen said his focus remained on improving basic infrastructure in remote and underserved villages so that residents could benefit from better facilities and development opportunities.

He added that feeder segregation, augmentation of receiving stations and other infrastructure upgrades were being undertaken to strengthen electricity supply across the constituency.

“Over the last two years, our consistent effort has been to bring a visible and meaningful change in the lives of people, reduce their day-to-day difficulties and ensure that people in every part of Banihal–Gool can lead a dignified life,” Shaheen said.

He said several important projects had already been initiated, while others were at various stages of planning and execution.

Shaheen further said a new phase of development involving major infrastructure projects had begun in Banihal–Gool and assured that implementation would be accelerated in the coming months to ensure timely completion of ongoing works.

Reiterating his commitment to extending development to every village, particularly those neglected for decades, Shaheen expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the concerned departments for their support and cooperation in advancing the constituency's development agenda. (KNS)
