Srinagar, May 11 (KNS): Even as the tourism season has begun in the state, and people too continue to face hardships in movement, damaged roads in the Valley are yet to be repaired and macadamized by the government.
“Roads in the Valley which were damaged by the floods in 2016 are really in bad shape and give troublesome journey to commuters,” said Rayees Ahmad, a resident of Baramulla said.
Tour operators too are worried about the bad roads in the valley.
“The government should begin the repairing the roads as it will give a negative impression among the tourists who will be coming to Kashmir this summer,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The government said that macdamisation of roads across the Valley.
“Macdamisation and repair of roads in the Valley will start after May 25. Tenderisation is ongoing these days. The temperature will also increase which will be ideal for macadamizing roads,” Minister for Roads and Buildings Abdul Rehman Veeri told KNS.
Veeri said that the bridges washed away or damaged by the 2014 floods will be constructed under CRF plan. (KNS)
