Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) condemned the use of brute force on people heading to participate in the one-day ‘Azadi Convention’ called by the unified resistance leadership, to sabotage the programme, injuring over 100 civilians including more than two-dozen women.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that the right to peacefully protest to express our aspirations and demand for self determination is our fundamental right which may be crushed by force but cannot be extinguished from our hearts and soul. Indiscriminate use of pellets and tear gas shells on civilians in Mandigam, Kralagund, Trehgam, Kupwara, Bandipora, Bijbehara and Srinagar while they were peacefully heading for participation in the ‘Azadi Convention’ is disgraceful.

Censorship and gagging was at its peak.
Hurriyat (M) said that the attacks on Kashmiri students as seen in Haryana Punjab and Uttar Pradesh is on an all time high as the activists and supporters of rightwing groups whose support base is considerably widening are harassing and humiliating them which is a cause of serious concern. At Global College of Law in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh Kashmiri students were not only harnessed but also looted and robbed by the rightwing activists.
Hurriyat (M) said the authorities of these institutes and the respective state governments have a moral responsibility to ensure safety of Kashmiri students studying there if they have been given admission. (KNS)
