Rajwar residents stage protest against power tariff hike

Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNS):   Residents of various villages of Rajwar in north Kashmir’s Handwara on Tuesday held a protest demonstration outside the Power Development department (PDD) sub division office Handwara against the electricity fee hike.
Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service said that residents of Satkoji, Behnipora, Dardhaji, Lachimpora and Dogerpora residents held at protest outside the PDD office and were demanding special consideration.
The protestors said that they were paying Rs 108-116 per month but now they are being charged Rs 370 per month which they can’t afford to pay.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Farooq Ahmad chichi, a local Sarpach said that in this area poor people who strive hard to manage basic necessities can’t pay the huge electricity tariff bills.
He said that the residents of this area belong to ALC category and the PDD authorities department should reconsider its power hike decision. 
Residents appealed the higher authorities to look into the matter.
When KNS contacted Executive Engineer PDD Handwara   Farooq Ahmed Tantray he said that they are charging them according to the electricity load (KNS).
