Srinagar, May 4 (KNS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a spell of unsettled weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds likely at many places till May 5. A temporary improvement in conditions is expected from May 6 to 8, followed by another round of fresh showers and thunderstorms between May 9 and 11.
According to the MeT department, the weather on May 4 and 5 will remain generally cloudy, with a high likelihood of rain or thundershowers at several locations. Gusty winds may accompany the precipitation, posing potential risks to travel and outdoor activities.
Issuing an advisory, the MeT has urged the public to stay alert and follow administrative and traffic guidelines. "There is a possibility of intense thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h at isolated to scattered places," the advisory stated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Authorities have also warned against boating and Shikara rides in Dal Lake, Wular Lake, and other water bodies during bad weather, citing safety concerns. The risk of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas has also been highlighted.
Meanwhile, farmers have been advised to hold off on agricultural operations until May 6. "They can resume farm activities during the expected dry spell from May 6 to 8," the MeT said.
