Srinagar, May 4 (KNS): Dismissed CRPF trooper Munir Ahmed said on Sunday he will challenge his termination in court, claiming he had obtained prior permission from the force's headquarters to marry a Pakistani woman.
Addressing a press conference, Munir Ahmed said that he had followed all due procedures before marrying Pakistani national Minal Khan. “I informed CRPF about my intention in December 2022, submitted all required documents including affidavits and identification papers, and received formal approval from headquarters on April 30, 2024,” he said.
Ahmed said the couple got married online on May 24, 2024, and that he had submitted the marriage certificate, photos, and ‘Nikkah’ papers to his 72 Battalion.
Khan arrived in India via Wagah-Attari on February 28 this year on a short-term visa, which expired on March 22.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA court stay has prevented her deportation. “We applied for her Long Term Visa in March itself. All formalities were completed, and that’s why the High Court stayed her deportation,” Ahmed said.
The CRPF, however, dismissed him citing national security concerns, alleging that he concealed the marriage and harboured his wife beyond her visa validity. Ahmed refuted these claims.
He also criticized the abrupt transfer he received from Sunderbani to Bhopal, without the mandatory 15-day joining time. “I joined Bhopal unit on March 29 and mentioned my marriage during documentation. I even recorded it in the battalion’s official register,” he said.
“This dismissal is arbitrary and unjust. I will be moving court in the next few days and I am hopeful of getting justice,” Ahmed said. (KNS)
