Srinagar, May 18 (KNS): As part of Hafta-e-Shadat to commemorate the 35th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq (RA), Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar organised Quran Khwani, special prayer gathering, and a grand Qur’an recitation competition at Jama Masjid Srinagar today .
In a statement issued to KNS it was highlighted that Over 30 prominent Islamic seminaries from across Kashmir, including remote border areas, participated in the event, with young Qaris showcasing their recitation skills.
The programme was presided over by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and attended by a large gathering of scholars, imams, and the public. In his remarks, Mirwaiz expressed gratitude to the participants and said the event not only honours the memory of the martyred leader but also aims to inspire a love for the Qur’an among the youth, encouraging them to follow its teachings.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Top positions in the recitation competition were awarded to Qari Fayaz Ahmad (Ashraf-ul-Uloom, Hyderpora), Qari Muhammad Yahya (Jamia Qasmiya, Handwara), Qari Muhammad Yasin (Dar-ul-Uloom Bilaliya), Qari Muhammad Asif Khan (Dar-ul-Uloom Daudiya), and Qari Farhan Ahmad Khan (Dar-ul-Uloom Sopore). They were felicitated with cash prizes and trophies, while all participants received gifts.
Judging was conducted by Qari Molvi Muhammad Amir, Qari Muhammad Ishtiyaq, and Qari Mufti Ijaz Ahmad Masoodi, with proceedings hosted by Maulana M.S. Rehman Shams.(KNS)
