Srinagar May 10 (KNS): In a surprise announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following what he described as an intense round of U.S.-mediated talks.
Taking to X he wrote “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump wrote. “Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have flared intermittently in recent years, particularly after the Pahalgam terror attack. Diplomatic efforts for de-escalation have intensified since the two countries faced off.
The deal would mark a significant breakthrough in South Asian diplomacy and a major foreign policy development under Trump’s current administration.(KNS)
