Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Wednesday alleged that eligible students in Kashmir were being denied Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) certificates on frivolous grounds and asked affected applicants to share details of their cases.
In a post on X, Iltija Mufti as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) termed the alleged denial a merit massacre and accused the National Conference-led government of failing to address the issue.
She urged students whose applications for EWS certificates had been rejected to contact her and provide details of their cases.
This is the second time this month that the PDP leader has criticised the NC-led government over issues concerning students and recruitment policies.
Last week, Iltija Mufti visited protesting forestry students at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) and questioned the recruitment rules for specialised forestry posts.

She argued that candidates with formal forestry qualifications should be given due consideration, pointing out that students study nearly 80 subjects over four years as part of their course.
Iltija Mufti urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Forest Minister Javed Rana to review the recruitment rules, alleging that the existing provisions could disadvantage qualified forestry graduates.
She also alleged that protesting students were being pressured to vacate their hostels and warned that she would join their agitation if they were evicted.
The PDP leader said the students were seeking recognition of their qualifications and equal employment opportunities. (KNS)
