Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): Senior leader and Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN), Ghulam Hasan Mir, Saturday condemned the way the PDP-BJP coalition government has conducted the autumn session of the Legislature that concluded today.
Talking to KNS, Mir said that the government has demeaned the democratic institution of the state by fighting over frivolous issues in the Assembly.
“Legislatures and elected members all over the world are meant to debate the welfare of the people. But, in our State, which is ruled by the ‘North pole and South pole’ government, legislatures have been reduced to wrestling rings,” Mir said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mir was referring to the punching and kicking of the BJP legislators on Independent legislator Abdul Rashid and the ruckus scenes over Dogra-era beef ban that dominated the ten days proceedings in the Legislative Assembly and Council.
“The government has eroded the sanctity of the templ of democracy in the state. Assembly is a place to debate and evolve solutions to the grievances of the people and for their welfare. Now, we have seen how frivolous and divisive issues are being raised in the house of democracy,” he said.(KNS)
