Srinagar, June 12 (KNS): Reiterating his appeal to the people of Islamabad to boycott the so-called assembly elections in the district, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday expressed hope that people will reject those who “made a sell-out of martyrs’ blood and are hell bent on eroding the special status of the State”.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah expressed hope that people of Islamabad will reject the elements that always played role in strengthening the Indian occupational rule in Kashmir.
“It doesn’t befit us to vote for those who are bent to attack our identity in the garb of Sainik and Pandit colonies. Those who begged for votes to keep the communal forces at bay are now in alliance with the same forces and are unleashing a reign of terror upon us. People must realize how the administration is keeping the real leadership under detention and putting thousands of pro-freedom youth behind bars. Still, these shameful people are begging for votes. This is because they have lost conscience,” Shah said.
Shah said those fighting elections are the very people who are massacring our youth and using lethal weapons like pellet guns and pepper gas against the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“People must realize why the resistance leadership is targeted and put behind bars or under house detention; why the so-called champions of democracy have waged a war against us. We challenge the government to compete with us on a political platform and see the results,” he said.
Shah in his message to people of Islamabad said: “I hope you will revere the sacrifices of our great martyrs by boycotting the so-called deceptive elections. We can safeguard our sacrifices only by staying away from that every activity which proves detrimental to our cause of freedom from Indian forcible occupation. Participation in the so-called elections only harms our freedom struggle.”
Meanwhile, on the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, the election boycott campaign continues with posters being distributed among the masses.
As per a party spokesperson, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and its constituents have charted out unanimous strategy in this regard and despite arrests and restrictions, endeavours are made to reach out to people. “In this connection, dozens of Freedom Party activists have been arrested in Islamabad during night raids. Still, the election boycott campaign continues,” he said. (KNS)
