Orphan pace bowler wishes to play for team India

‘Absence of playfields, coaches unfortunate’

Baramulla, Jan 28 (KNS): With throwing a ball in the speed of 135 km per hour, a 20 year old orphan boy from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is day by day emerging as the top most pace bowler of the Valley. The pacer says that the absence of coaching, maintenance of grounds is depriving the valley cricketers to shine his career.
Umar Majeed, a student of BA 2nd year told KNS that he has played several tournaments so far including JKCPL and DCL but is yet to achieve hoes goal. “In 2014, the authorities held trials to choose the best cricketers here but the devastating floods at that time ruined whole plan of officials and the announced trials are yet to be started thereby spoiled all hope,” he said.
Baramulla Degree college student further said that despite giving a chance to him, the Valley play grounds are in shambles as the authorities concerned hardly pay heed over the renovation or maintenance of fields. “The main play fields of Kashmir are also in shambles. Keeping that in mind, the Valley cricketers maintain the pitches on their own as the authorities appointed persons are nowhere to look into the sufferings of cricketers,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that all the hopes of cricketers have been spoiled by the officials present in the Cricket Association and Youth Service and Sports. “I don’t know what the appointed officials are doing for the welfare of the Valley cricketers as we san everything including the basic things here. A shining star, Parvez Rasool who has been selected for team India is only there because of his own hard work. There is no hand behind his success,” he said.
While terming South Africa’s pace bowler, Dale Steyn as his idol. Umar Majeed said, “I wish to have a pace like Pakistan’s former pace bowler Shoiab Akhtar and hopefully with my hard work I will achieve my goal at earliest,” he said.
While wishing to play for team India, Umar said that he will soon play for his state first and then will be selected for team India. (KNS)
