Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday called for a black day on Jan 26.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said, “India celebrates its republic day on 26th January every year and calls itself the biggest democracy of the world but this is the nation that has snatched the democratic right of Kashmiris by its military might and is continuously denying Kashmiris this right.”
He said that democracy means accepting the rights of poor nations and doing justice to them but instead of this India under the garb of being the biggest democracy is trampling Kashmiri rights with their military might.
Malik said, “It was India and its leaders like Jawahar Lal Nehru who pledged before the international community to provide Kashmiris the right of self-determination but now today when Kashmiris are asking for the fulfillment of same pledges they are being killed and brutalized by same India that too in the name of democracy and peace.”
He said, “If the history of only last five months is taken into account, our hundreds have been killed by Indian bullets, eye sight of so many has been snatched and thousands have been injured.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMore than ten thousands are languishing in jails and voices of Kashmiris have been suppressed by military might.”
While condemning the verdict by a west Bengal court against many people, Malik said, “Only few days back, many including an innocent Kashmiri Muzaffar Ahmad Rather from Kulgam has been sentenced to death by an Indian court. Father of Kashmiri nation, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru were also hanged through same kind of state sponsored terrorism and this also is another form of oppressive tacit of denying the democratic rights of Kashmiris.”
JKLF chairman said that the republic day of a nation that has by military might snatched the freedom of a poor nation and has denied them basic democratic right can never be the day of joy for the oppressed people of Kashmir and because of this Kashmiris are compelled to observe this day as a black day.
He said that people of Jammu Kashmir will observe Jan 26 as a ‘black day’ and register their protest against illegal occupation and oppression. (KNS)
