“The extraction of sand and gravel in Kashmir used to engage thousands of Kashmiri labour’s in work and in Jammu as well, to earn their livelihood . They would employ the traditional means that would help them in saving the water bodies, rivers and streams and maintain the irrigation system in its shape, Mir said while pointing out the merits of the traditional system,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“By auctioning the mining of the sand and gravel to one person or contractor , the UT government has marred the livelihood of of at least one lakh people . Equally worse is the fact that machines used in mining would wreck the irrigation system, and that is bound to impact the agriculture sector in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mir added
Mir said that the government either has not applied its mind or it is doing it deliberately to kill the work of Poor people and wants them to be rendered workless .
The government is bulldozing labour class of Jammu and by its insensitive and inhuman policies. (KNS)
