Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNS): Senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan Wednesday condoled the demise of Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat of Kupwara.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the deceased was brother-in-law of Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Gucchi, Kupwara who is languishing in jail since 23 years.
“Ghulam Qadir Bhat was arrested in 1994. Four years later, in 1998 his father passed away with a wish to see his son. In 2009, Ghulam Qadir Bhat’s wife also passed away, taking the dreams of seeing her husband along. And now Ghulam Qadir’s old mother is waiting to see her beloved son before her passing away,” the statement reads.
While condoling the death of Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat, Nayeem Khan expressed shock and said that hundreds of such families whose members are languishing in jails since decades together have almost ruined and their children have badly suffered due to trauma through which they had to pass.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Khan said that prisoners like Ghulam Qadir Bhat and their families suffer due to unrealistic attitude of the political leadership of India and the situation has affected hundreds of their kith and kin who do not see any ray of hope about the reunification with their loved ones.
He asked the authorities to ponder over the situation with a humanitarian approach so that they can feel the inner pain of the victim families.
Khan said that families like of Ghulam Qadir Bhat are suffering only because of the political dispute of Kashmir. “If a process to resolve this dispute is started victims like Ghulam Qadir Bhat would certainly get a relief,” he said.
Khan hailed the patience of Ghulam Qadir Bhat and his nears and dears for suffering which they are passing through. He prayed for the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. (KNS)
