Srinagar March 16:(KNS) A meeting to review the progress of developmental activities and other services of Municipal Corporation in different administrative wards/ electoral wards was held under the Chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar Mr Junaid Azim Mattu in his office chambers.
Besides Commissioner SMC Mr Athar Aamir , FA/ CAO , Joint Commissioner Adm, Joint Commissioner Works, S.E Drainage , Secretary SMC, concerned Councilors ,other Senior Municipal Officers were present in the meeting .
At the outset of the meeting Mr Mattu reviewed the Ward wise implementation of developmental schemes and other Municipal services .
During the course of meeting various issues were raised by the councilors from their particular wards on account of Sanitation, Drainage networks, Encroachments, Street lights and other other developmental related activities to which Mayor while responding swiftly ensured the prompt action in resolving issues on different fronts in their concerned electoral wards.
On the occassion many Councillors while putting forth sanitation related issues of their concerned wards, Mayor passed on several directions with regard to Lack of sanitation staff in different wards.
The chief Sanitation officer was directed to work out proposals for rationalization of sanitary staff / safaiewallas as per population and area of operation and providing of other basic material in this manner.
While discussing Drainage issues and to remove the bottle necks there off in the identified wards presented by the concerned Councillors, Mr Mattu directed SE Drainage Circle SMC along with Executive Engineer City Roads Division ,to have on spot visit of the areas and prepare a DPR for clearance / disilting of blocked drains .
However while discussing upgradation of Community Halls/ marriage halls ,the chair desired that estimates for all such marriage halls / community halls within all electoral wards which need necessary repairs shall be worked out to ensure proper facility / services to the citizens and in this regard Joint Commissioner Works was directed to work out proposals accordingly .
Regarding installation of Street lights Mayor retierated the left over areas of Srinagar city shall be covered in next phase of installation besides three high mast lights in each ward shall be installed shortly.
The Joint Commissioner Works on the occasion was directed to put up proposals for taking up the matter with H&UDD for coverage of other uncovered areas of the city as well .
Mayor while emphasizing on sustainable Anti Enroachment drives to be conducted regularly in the city, It was directed that An anti encroachment drive shall be planned by the Chief Enforcement officer, Chief Anti Encroachment officer in the city and the Deputy Director Planning shall assist in the process. FIR’s against the violators shall be lodged .
All the Executive Engineers headed by Joint Commissioner works shall have a joint visit area wise to take stock of the developmental activities and work out proposals for delimitation of wards for perusal of the authorities in a phased manner.
During the course of meeting Desilting of irrigation Koul – Malabagh , Rangpora , Gulab Bagh and Chatterham was also disscussed and in this regard Commissioner SMC was directed to take up the matter with Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control regarding diselting of irrigation Kouls of Malabagh , Rangpora , Gulab Bagh and Chatterhama which shall otherwise prove a health hazard for the inhabitants of the area .
On construction of lanes and drains The Superintending Engineer Drainage Circle SMC along with Executive Engineer Roads Division was directed to visit the areasand work out separate proposals for up gradation of Drainage network and roads as per the requirement in the different wards. (KNS)
