Massive fire breaks out at Tengpora–Bulbulbagh

Srinagar, Jan 6 (KNS): A massive fire broke out at Tengpora–Bulbulbagh Road on Tuesday, consuming godowns storing carpets, furnishings, paints, and other flammable materials, officials said.

An official told KNS that the Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) received the call at 5:06 PM and immediately dispatched fire tenders from Fire Station Rawalpora, F&ES Headquarters, JVC, Nowgam, Rangreth, Pampore, and Syed Hameedpora to the site.

Upon arrival, fire officials observed that the warehouse and adjoining godowns were fully engulfed, with the presence of combustible items such as carpets, thermocol, and paints intensifying the blaze. Firefighting operations were initiated immediately.
Additional reinforcements, including foam tenders, foam cans, a Bronto Skylift tender, and fire water boozers, were sent from the headquarters in view of the magnitude of the fire, officials said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the operation, one firefighter suffered suffocation due to exposure to toxic gases and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

The firefighting operation is being headed by Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services, Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, along with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah, under the supervision of ADGP Fire and Emergency Services J&K, Shri Alok Kumar.

Officials said all efforts are underway to bring the fire under complete control and prevent further damage. Further details will be shared once the operation concludes, the officials added.(KNS).
