Baramulla, May 06 (KNS):A local militant, affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed in an encounter between government forces and militants at Karhama Kunzer in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district on Saturday.
An official said a joint team of security forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched search operation at Karhama Kunzer following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, one militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed and he has been identified as Abid Wani, Son of Mohd Rafiq Wani, a resident of Yarhol Babapora, Kulgam. "Incriminating materials and an AK 47 Rifle was recovered from the site of the encounter," he said.(KNS)
