Srinagar, Aug 29(KNS): The state has witnessed several national & multinational events in recent times. Aligned to Government approach, several initiatives have been taken by Indian Army. KPL stands as one of the iconic platform to boost sports in the valley. Indian Army organised KPL from 28 July 2021 to 29 August 2021.
The month long tournament was aimed to identify latent talents of villages, remote & far flung areas of the valley and promote their skills by giving desired exposure. It witnessed massive participation wherein local youth of the valley participated with full zeal. The tournament has been helpful in enhancing sports culture of the valley.
In addition, the league will also assist in boosting culture and economy of the state. It is a landmark event for the valley as it will transform the perception globally. The government has always been forthcoming in establishing sound connect with youth. The unprecedented success of KPL in tiring times of pandemic stands as a testimony to government's effort in reaching out to AWAAM of the state. The T-20 league has been singular event of its kind in the valley to witness tremendous exuberance and euphoria from all the strata of the society.
The initiative will go a long way in boosting sports culture and promoting sportsmen in the state. The venture will be utilised by local youth to showcase their talent and also assist in cultivating sportsman spirit in them. The success of KPL signifies interests of AWAAM towards development processes. Kashmir will continue to grow and shine with enriched glory in the times to come.
If pondered upon for sometime, then platform for showcasing the talent is as important as talent itself. Recognition of the talent is the greatest fuel to inspire honing of the talent to the finest levels. Kashmir Premier League, an unprecedented initiative by the Indian Army is something providing both platform and recognition. An initiative, not constricted to a particular area in its reach and impact. Rising to the occasion, it is something which has been able to penetrate remotest of the areas of valley in its appeal and impact. It a revival of hope, something rejuvenating for youth which has helped them to feel lively again. In addition to hope and rejuvenation, this is something which will play a vital role in identifying the budding talent and make them finest of the players eventually contributing to National Team. It is a step which captures the imagination of youth and encompasses them all in its influence.
Kashmir Premier League is going a long way in promoting the culture of sports and hence playing a major role in the direction of honing the talent and grooming of youth. Indian Army has been working hand in hand with AWAAM to materialise this initiative. The event is mammoth in its participation and outreach. A total of 10 Districts of Valley competed in the league which was divided into three main phases. Indian Army has an active involvement in its conduct and therefore naturally helping in making the bond with AWAAM more robust.
KPL is also playing an active role in engaging youth and channelizing their energy in the right direction. Simultaneously it is serving the purpose of furnishing capable players to the country. Intensity of such innovative steps needs to be increased which have multiple utilities.
Sports can contribute immensely in improving people’s physical and psychological health. They also present the world with a universal language and a sense of belonging and support. In promoting mutual respect and tolerance, sports teaches important social and interpersonal skills. Using sports to help people especially youth, has proven to be an effective tool in keeping them away from falling into a cycle of anti-social behaviour and specially violence. Conduct of KPL by Indian Army has really given a platform to the youths of Kashmir.
Despite all the trials, tribulations and difficulties, KPL is hailed and celebrated as a national triumph throughout the country. KPL is going to dawn a new era for Kashmir cause. KPL is the harbinger of Kashmir culture and identity. The motive of this KPL is to engage youths in sports activities and stay away from other incorrect activities like drugs or violence. It also aims to make youth physically fit which makes for sharp minds, with youths shaping better future.
This league also gives exposure to these youths as they meet new teams and get more experience. It is sponsored at the village level so they get more experience by playing matches with other teams. KPL has proved its worth not only in terms of sports but also has provided platform to youth to interact with different mindset people locally and internationally both which is like further motivating their will of achieving their dreams and understanding the psychology of negative people who try to pull youth in hostile elements.
KPL has served as an effective platform to address the ideologies and provided a tool to create ideal conditions for learning, social participation and the meaningful and positive engagement of youth within communities. This League has proved its worth as a sports-based teaching method to provide young people with essential life skills that has proven to enhance their resilience against crime and violence. The event has equipped the Kashmiri youths with the opportunity of sharing international experience, practice, new opportunities and discipline. KPL is like a window opening to new horizons of dreams for Kashmiri youth.(KNS).
